Forest School

When we decided to homeschool this year, I became very focused with finding activities we could do throughout the week. As much as I love being outside, I’m also very content with just being at home and can easily become somewhat of a homebody. I really need a plan in place to make sure we get out of the house. I heard about an organization FreeForestSchool.org from a homeschool page and looked to see if we had a group in our area. We didn’t, so I submitted an application to get one started in our area. It’s a volunteer run program to encourage unstructured play in nature. I love the idea of having a weekly Forest School for us to attend.

Our Chapter was approved and I’m excited to have started a free forest school in our area. It’s already been such a great experience for us and we have meet some wonderful families. I’m looking forward to creating a caring community of like-minded parents and caregivers. I also hope to create a safe place for those that are new to this type of outdoor experience. If you’re interested in finding a Free Forest School in your area, go to https://www.freeforestschool.org. If there isn’t a Chapter in your area, I highly recommend starting one. The application process took a little time, but the overall process is very easy.
